I’ve spent my entire life learning and teaching Chinese martial arts.
I began training back in 1984, and I’m proud to be a disciple of Master Deng Jan Gong — one of the most famous masters in Southern China. I’m fluent in Cantonese, and I still return to China regularly to further my studies in Tai Chi.
In 1995 I opened the Rising Crane Centre, where for twenty-five years I taught Tai Chi full-time and ran a clinic of traditional Chinese acupuncture. I’m a graduate of the College of Integrated Chinese Medicine — so when I teach you the health side of Tai Chi, it comes from real training in both.
Over those years I taught around the world — across Europe, Asia, America, and the Middle East — and coached national and international champions in Tai Chi, with students winning competitions in The UK, Europe and Hong Kong.
Then, in 2020, after 25 years of running a full-time school, I closed the centre to take a sabbatical and travel to China for an extended study trip.
The universe, however, had other ideas — the outbreak of Covid-19 happened immediately after!
That’s when I realised my next move: teaching online. I spent lockdown building my online academy and teaching free lessons on YouTube to help people through the pandemic.
